We are in the midst of Lent-a season to prepare your heart and soul for Easter. I pray that you are using this time to draw closer to God. Lent is generally a season of fasting and this year I am fasting from “time-sucking” consumption instead of food consumption. I want to utilize the time God has given me for His glory! I can spend a lot of time on “time-sucking” things that in the grand scheme of life are not that beneficial, so I am striving to spend my time on purposefully intentional pursuits. A majority of this time is in God’s Word. This is where I draw strength, peace, joy, and wisdom, where I experience the Spirit speaking straight to my soul.
The 40 days of Lent are reminiscent of the time Jesus spent 40 days in the desert fasting and while there He was tempted by Satan. During Lent, we can also be like Jesus spending time fasting and drawing closer to God. We also might find ourselves, like Jesus, in the actions of Satan tempting, distracting and even trying to deceive us. BUT, just like Jesus, we can refute and resist the enemy through the sword of the Spirit-the Word of God. You cannot fight a battle and win if you are not equipped for it! Where are you spending your time? Is any of your time spent with Jesus, with the Word of God?
Don’t lose the battle just because you didn’t take the time to spend with Jesus-the WORD!
