That’s my son,
The One the angel told me about.
That’s my son,
I want to cry, I want to shout.
That’s my son,
The babe I held so close.
That’s my son,
The preteen I thought I lost.
That’s my son,
The One with miracle power.
That’s my son,
This can’t be his hour.
That’s my son,
The One on the cross in anguish.
That’s my son,
The One betrayed by a kiss.
That’s my son,
From the cross still caring for me.
That’s my son,
Hanging where my sin says I should be.
That’s my son,
You just don’t understand.
That’s my son,
He’s not just any man.
That’s my son,
But He’s God’s Son too.
God’s Son who came to save me and you.
That’s my Savior,
The Messiah we’ve waited for.
That’s my Savior,
the One that I adore.
That’s my Savior,
I believed what He said.
That’s my Savior,
I went where He led.
That’s my Savior,
Eternal life He gives.
That’s my Savior,
Forever He lives.
The King of kings and Lord of lords,
Death He defeated, but not by a sword.
His blood was shed to cover my sin,
Now I have true life with Him.
Not only for me was the invitation given,
It’s for everyone, just believe He is risen.
The Son of God sacrificed His life
And endured all the strife,
Because love for you
Is what He kept in view.
May you embrace this Easter weekend to its fullest, remembering all Jesus did for us by suffering and dying on the cross, but don’t stop there, remember His resurrection! He defeated the power of sin over our lives. He took on our sin, was separated from the Father when all of our sin was upon Him, but He also defeated death through His resurrection. By His actions, we have eternal life if we believe in Him, AND He also gives us a full, abundant life here on this earth! Thank you, Jesus, for all you endured on our behalf. May we go and be One Dawning Light to all we come in contact with!
P.S. After doing a character study of Mary over the past few months, these words just flowed right out. If you haven’t read “Wrestling With Wonder” by Marlo Schalesky, I highly recommend it!
